Vancouver, B.C. – The BC LNG Alliance congratulates LNG Canada on reaching a Final Investment Decision (FID). LNG Canada’s commitment to an LNG industry in British Columbia means British Columbians, First Nations and Canadians benefits will see the benefits of this industry for decades to come.

This is a significant milestone for the LNG industry in B.C. and demonstrates a sustainable LNG industry in B.C. is possible. A Final Investment Decision is the result of many years of planning and partnership-building and requires significant certainty. Many people in B.C. have worked diligently towards the goal of an FID for an LNG project in B.C. and who remain committed to ensuring we continue to have a sustainable, environmentally and socially responsible, globally competitive LNG industry in B.C.

B.C. LNG facilities will have fewer greenhouse gas emissions than the most efficient LNG projects in the world today and will help reduce global emissions. In turn, British Columbians will see the direct benefits of adding value to our natural gas through jobs, training opportunities, business opportunities and a new source of revenue for governments.
